As the vague “Summer 2023” release date for Counter-Strike 2 approaches, Valve continues to casually drop massive changes coming to its tactical FPS on Twitter. The latest is a meaningful change to the buy screen. CS2’s buy screen will take a cue from Valorant by letting players refund their purchases before the buy phase ends (watch that in action below). You’ll also notice Valve has ditched the weapon wheel in favor of Valorant’s gun grid.

The bigger news is that Valve is implementing loadouts with CS2, which force players to pick four pistols, five “mid-tier” guns (SMGs/shotguns), and five rifles to create a personal buy menu.

Defender’s Quest: Valley of the Forgotten is an excellent tower defense game, and so it wasn’t surprising that in 2013, a year after its release, a sequel was announced. And then, nothing happened.  

But now it’s back! A decade down the road, developer Level Up Labs has officially “re-revealed” Defenders Quest 2: Mists of Ruin and said it will be out later this year.

Defender’s Quest 2, like the first game, promises to mix tower defense tactics with “long-term strategy” and RPG-style party and character building. This time around, players will lead a team known as the Hunters on a mission across the Shining Lands in a last-ditch effort to save the once-lush oasis from a deadly gas called Mirk.

Today in “making videogames is hard” news: Respawn’s journey to track down a bug that caused months of audio issues in Apex Legends. Grenades that don’t explode, guns that don’t shoot, damage that has no source, and months of agonizing investigation—all apparently caused by a single line of code added in Apex Legends’ Season 16 update.

As outlined in a thorough Reddit post by Respawn community manager Amy Thiessen, the trouble began at the start of Season 16 in February.
